The Institute of Intellectual Property and Law, Kyiv, Ukraine was founded in 1996. This was a result of resolution adopted by Ukrainian Parliament Comission on Science and Education and Ministry of Science, Technology and Industrial Policy of Ukraine called "The Resolution on creation of National system of training, retraining and qualification upgrading of professional linked with intellectual property legal protection"..

The Institute is an integral part of of National System of Intellectual Property Legal Protection. The main goal of the Institute consists in training, re-training and qualification upgrading of professionals involved in the area of intellectual property, including legal establishments and organisations and enterprises has been directly coordinated by State Department of intellectual property.

Institute has been licensed by the Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine conduct educational activity covering the program "Intellectual Property" based on previously obtained university degree leading to the:

• specialists degree (license series: АА № 122030), 75 graduates annually;
• magister degree (license series АА № 122464), 25 graduates annually.

The Ministry of Science of Education of Ukraine issued to the institute an accreditation certificate of the highest IV level of accreditation in accordance with decision of State Accreditation Commission No46, dated 15.07.2003.

Preparation of professional by awarding a second university degree.

Qualification upgrading intended for professionals involved in area of intellectual property within the limits of market economy formation, based on the national and international legal experience.

Cooperation with legal establishments, organisations and enterprises of all forms of property in Ukraine and abroad aimed at traing and qualification upgrading of professionals involved in intellectual property legal protection and intellectual property effective use.

Educational, publishing and researching activity.

Favoring the development of production linked with highly ... technologies, highly competative products, creation of legal protection of researchers with implementing newest highly efective technologies and results of scientific research.

Scientific and methodological logistics while conducting educational courses of intellectual property.

Scientific research and generalisation of existed knowledge in the area of intellectual property.

Scientific and teachers staff

The Institute compose of 25 staff members, including 3 Doctors of science (on equivalent of Post-Doctoral degree) and 10 Candidates of science (on equivalent of doctoral degree). Persons who are teaching here are leading professionals within the National system of intellectual property including State Department of Intellectual Property, Ukrpatent, Ukrainian Academy of Science, Department National Property, Ukrainian Parliament, Patent attorney.

Graduates of the institute who received the qualification as "professional in intellectual property" may occupy positions of engeneers of patent-license and invention spheres and experts of intellectual property.

Facilities

Lecture rooms, administrative facilities and library are equpped by modern technics and communications including two computer classes, connected between selwes in a network and having an access to Internet.

Admission

Person who wish to apply must have a university Bachelor and/or Master Degree in any area. Admission committe accept applications during whole year. Aproval of applications are based on personal interview and presentation of educational documents.
